About Cultivated Glassworks

All it took was one class, and I was hooked. A few months later in March of 2024, Cultivated Glassworks was created. It began as a way for me to justify the amount of money I'd spent on glass supplies. The cutting tools, the grinder, the foils, never mind the cost of the glass itself. I'd taught myself how to make simple, minimalistic earrings and I started giving some away to friends and family. Granted, I'm sure some of them were just being nice, but most seemed to really enjoy them. And it made me happy to see someone wearing something I'd actually made! At the time, I was making mostly earrings and to be completely honest, I didn't even have my ears pierced. I couldn't even wear my own creations. That didn't last long. A few weeks after launching my Etsy store, I pulled the trigger and got the needle. I was finally able to wear my own pieces. What began with earrings, turned into suncatchers, and car charms, and even stained glass plants.

What do I love so much about stained glass? The process. The fact that each step is so distinctly different from the last. Different tools. Different protective equipment required. Different workspaces needed for each piece. As a human with adult-diagnosed ADHD, I absolutely LOVE to hyperf-ixate on tasks. I also crave dopamine from new and novel experiences. Whichever way I'm feeling on a particular day, I can fulfill either need. I can either grind glass all day for 8 hours, or I can do a project from start (cutting) to finish (soldering). Hours can pass without me noticing. Glass is therapeutic for me in a time when I really should be going to actual therapy. I've had many hobbies throughout my life so far, and many have come and gone. I have a feeling this one is going to stick around a while.

Thank you for visiting my page, and checking out my products. I can't tell you how much the support means to me and my small business <3
